I understand people disliking the mistakes regarding the product (pads), but they should remember that tampons, although a different product, are a more "well known" product than pads - which have multiple meanings in context.

As far as the "stealing" debate goes, as he stated in the video - amazon will get a return option in line soon - and they'd pick up on people routinely stealing products.

Those that watched the live stream know he cleared everything with an Amazon PR rep. He got permission to test out their refund system - not to mention that Amazon's ToS state that you can refund any product for any reason and are under no obligation to return it (presumably using data from your Amazon account to determine if you're abusing the system).

 

Also, at least in the US (possibly Canada as well), the word "tampon" is generally used to refer to any menstrual product, regardless if they are actual tampons or not.

I like how people seem to think others are actually upset that they called them tampons and not sanitary towels or pads. I made that comment on the thread for the video on the forum as a joke as 1) It really doesn't matter and 2) I'm sure that Linus, a married man, is fully aware of the difference between the two, along with the rest of the LMG staff (well, maybe not all of them). 

 

It seems that no one gets sarcasm anymore.

As I've said once in a status update, oversensitive and triggered people are like an allergic reaction leading to anaphylactic shock. They get sensitized and over reactive to pretty much innocuous and harmless things including getting pads from a grocery store.

I watched the 27-minute stream archive (it's unlisted, but can post it upon request).

 

I didn't watch the original, which I should. But after listening to the whole thing, this shitstorm is hilarious, but completely unnecessary, and I agree with Linus with what he said in the stream.
