Replace CPU in laptop motherboards

So I saw that the Sager NP9155 is using a desktop i7-8700K. I'm just wondering, can I possibly upgrade that CPU later, and if yes, how? Is it just like replacing a normal desktop CPU?

What exactly do you want to upgrade to? Intel change sockets pretty much to stop exactly this.

MSI GE60 2PE i7-4700HQ / 860M / 12GB / WE 1TB / m.Sata 256gb/Elagto USB HD Capture Card

What I mean is that, if this thing is using a desktop 8700K, it should mean that the laptop is using a desktop motherboard. So if in the case the CPU fails, can I swap it out?

It would be somewhat similar to replacing a normal desktop CPU. The only big difference is that it would require more significant disassembly, though that is obvious. If new CPUs come out that support the Z370 chipset, and Sager updates the BIOS, you will be able to upgrade the CPU at a later time.

Yes. The socket inside is a normal LGA 1151 socket.

Yeah I'll swap, but honestly I've been in IT for 8 years and I can count the number of failed CPU's i've seen on one hand. Motherboards, Tons, Graphics card, hundreds but very very rarely CPU's

*Please if you are an overclocker don't reply with "Well I've had lots fail on me" no they didn't fail. YOU broke them

just don't go too crazy. It's a desktop processor w/ laptop cooling and power supply.

Yeah you can replace it, but I highly doubt there will be another CPU that would work in that socket. And as long as you don’t physically break the laptop that CPU won’t die for 10+ years and by that point you won’t be wanting to use that thing. At the rate we are going we’ll probably have a laptop 20x as powerful in the form factor of a MacBook Air.
