LTX 2018 Discussion Thread

Hey guys!

We're planning another LTX event for this year, and I wanted to ask you all what you'd like to see at the event.

Open to all feedback and suggestions, even if you didn't go last year. :D

instead of linus hosting the live stream, struggling with wifi, save his voice a bit and rotate in other lmg staff, maybe csf themed voiceover/announcer style-ish banter. like espn? with like a wired connection somewhere switching between camera feeds? go mlg lmg.

I maybe hopefully can go this year (As people have said, it would be nice to either have a US or east coast LTX), passport and plane tickets are the two limiting factors for me right now.

As for events, what about sort of ancient hardware date guessing contest? Put together a system with peripherals and people have to guess the year of each component. Maybe the winner keeps it as a retro gaming rig (idk).

Super excited about the possibility of going!

Tech, engineering, gaming and promoting the metric system. These are my things.

Lover of Linux.

PC Specs:

Spoiler

CPU: Intel i7 6700
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070
Motherboard: Asus Z170 A
RAM: Corsair Vengence 16GB

I think it would be cool if you got loads of other tech bloggers to come down then did some kind of tech challenge.

Maybe some kind of timed build off, if you got sponsors involved you could get the builders to autograph their own build then do a charity raffle to win each build.

The builds wouldn't even need to be ballin, just a nice mid range desktop.

Could raise a fair chunk of cash for a charity or two.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

A build-off would be super cool. I've never been to LTX despite living in Canada, but plane tickets are expensive. :(

Having a (paid) shuttle bus to Carvolth Exchange, the local bus loop, which has easy connections to SkyTrain, for people who can't use a car or walk. 501 is awfully slow.

I believe the site says LTX 2018 is in Richmond this year not in Langley.

Wish I could come...

If it's in the summer, I may be able to.

If not, then no, I wouldn't be able to

Where would the venue be in Richmond. I live in Richmond, and excluding the Olympic Oval sports venue, I can't think of anywhere where they could hold it.

If you need any guides like how to take the train from the airport (IMO best idea, trains are pretty cheap and quick while taxis are like $10 for a km) just ask me

Would it be possible to build something with and epyc IE dual 32 cores and 16 gamers?

Highly unlikely but amd has given special treatment to ltt/ltx with the thread ripper Vega build, would be amazing for anyone to be able to play on it

I think it's because that place is impossible to access via walk/transit, and really far away from things even if you drive. The oval location is like 5 minutes from a good meal and bbt hahaha (and grocery stores, transit, coastline, airport, bank, etc)
