Which thermal compound

CombatComedy

I have already ordered Arctic Silver 5 and am gonna build my pc in a month or so and thought I would use it on my CPU (i5-7600k) but I have recently built my friend his computer and used Arctic mx-4 and it runs pretty cool (i5-6600 or 6500 I forgot) with his stock heat sink but I will be using a cryorig h7 heatsink, any opinions on which paste I should use? Thx

I do not think it will matter at this point, since you're using higher-end thermal paste. A cooler upgrade, would be way more beneficial, if you want more cooling.

"May your frame rates be high and your temperatures low"

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

You don't need to upgrade beyond that unless you delid and get a way better cooler.

The differences between thermal pastes - as long as they're not the cheapest silicon grease type of crap - is just 1-2 degrees. It doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

I personally use MX-2 and I'm happy with it. Arctic Silver 5 or MX-4 wouldn't be significantly better, so i'd say just stick with AS5 since you already ordered it.

either is fine, unless you buy crap bulk thermal paste like linus did that one time there is unlikely to be more than a 1-2 degree difference

can just use the paste that comes with the cooler. cryorig include very good thermal paste with their coolers, no need to buy anything different
