A simple GPU update took me this far (part 2)

jean_001

So here's part 1.

In summary; I was unhappy with the way my new 1080ti behaved and felt that the old 3770k was to blame.

Thus, I brought together a new rig incl. a i7 8700k, 16 GB 3200hz Ram and a new board (aorus gaming 7) and renewed the chassis while I was at it. (It was awfully painful to choose but I ended up with a nice white Corsair 400c. I almost got a Thermaltake core p3 but really could not wrap my mind around how I was to deal with gathering dust.)

And I realized that I just cannot stop.

I don't know whether I'm going through a phase -where I want to fill an emotional gap- or not but I just cannot stop.

Now I feel that my current LG 29UM67 display is not sufficient. I found out that there's a great deal of performance gain during games when I turn on vsync.  Which obviously limits fps to the refresh rate of the monitor that is 60hz.

And all this time I'd been pushing an nvidia card towards a freesync monitor. (I guess it's a form of heresy in the pc gaming world)

I'm a big fan of Ultrawide (evidently) and currently eyeing out at this nice looking AOC AG352UCG, however it's only 100hz.

What should i do?

Ultrawide 2k (3440X1440) 100hz, or regular 2k (2560X1440) with 144hz.?

Should I wait for Ultrawide displays with higher than 100hz?

Or should i just go see a psychologist?

If you're spending money that you don't have, then maybe stop, but if you enjoy what you are getting no need for a psychologist.

Not really because you don't pay more for Freesync :P

I'd go with a 100Hz Ultrawide since it's still a very big improvement over 60, and 21:9 is just gorgeous

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Once you go 21x9, going back will leave a hole in your heart.

Go for the Ultrawide.
