The Red Beast | 900D | 780 Liquidcooled | First Build :)

Hi Guys, I just wanted to share my first build with you, it took me quite some time and I really enjoyed the process of building my own rig!

I want to start of by thanking this awesome forum, I hadn't built a computer myself before and mostly read through posts here on the forum and learned, what was necessary to build one, so thanks to all of you, especially all the guys, that post in the Watercooling section (Ghost for example :)).

I will start with a parts list in the beginning! I build this rig in September of 2013 and now, in December, I took it apart for the first time to place some LEDs and some covers and now I wanted to show of, what has become of my rig!

Parts:

ASUS Maximus V Formula

Intel Core i7 3770k

16 GB Dominator Platinum

180GB Intel 520 SSD

1 TB WD Green Drive

GTX 780

BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 850 Watt PSU

12 BitFenix Spectre Pro Fans

Liquidcooling Gear from Aquacomputer and EK Waterblocks

Cables from Bitfenix

LEDs from Icemodz and some more

27" IPS Monitor from Dell 2560x1440

23" TN Monitor from Dell 2048x1152

...

I'll start of with a picture of my the final build with white LED light

and here

post-15163-0-27630900-1387051890_thumb.j

I used the Corsair 900D, because I figured, that with a bigger case it would be easier to work for a Beginner like me,

and it gives me some flexibility to add more stuff and change things around, simply because there is some much space!

As the motherboard I went with the ASUS Maximus V Formula, because I liked the onboard sound solution and the color scheme a lot

and I also liked the EK Waterblocks, that are available for this one, I know, they are just for looks and not really necessary, but I really like the look of those.

Here you can see the Northbridge waterblock

and the 7bit Error Code read out and Start and Reset buttons

post-15163-0-65599000-1387051816_thumb.j

I used an Intel Core i7 3770k, because I got a pretty good deal at the time and I also didn't want to wait for the new generation of waterblocks for the new motherboards and so on!

As memory I used Dominator Platinums, just because they look really cool

post-15163-0-08200600-1387052030_thumb.j

For my storage I went with an 180GB 520 Series Intel SSD for the Operating System and all the necessary stuff and a 1 TB WD Green Hard Drive for general storage.

As a GPU I chose the reference GTX 780 from ASUS and on there is a waterblock from XSPC

post-15163-0-67589600-1387052230_thumb.j

As Power Supply I chose the Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 850 Watt and as Cable Extensions I chose the red BitFenix ones.

My Liquid cooling gear comes from all over this world, I use the Aquacomputer Aquastream xt Ultra pump, which is some modification of one of the Eheim pumps, for control the Aquacomputer Aquaero 5 Pro,

a 400mm Reservoir from Bitspower and also some fittings from there, but I mainly used Primochills Acrylic Tubing, which was a lot of work to get to fit and look nice at the same time, but it looks so awesome now!

I had to import those from Australia. The CPU Waterblock is from XSPC as well! I also use two 480 Rads from EKWB.

Loop order is as follows: Res -> Pump -> Botttom Rad -> Bottom Motherboard Block -> GPU -> CPU -> Top Motherboard Block -> Top Rad -> Res

I chose to loop back over the back, there is enough space on the 900D, so the connection between Top Rad and Res is not really visible!

In the end I also mounted some acrylic in the bottom to cover up the bottom section and in the top to cover up the 5,25" Bayarea, it looks way cleaner now!

Okay guys, I think that's most of my story, I unfortunately don't have to much pictures of the process of building it, I was to much occupied with not screwing up so I took pictures beforehand and afterwards!

I'll just post now some glamour shots and some other pics of the build and my accesories:

That's a HUGE reservoir!

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Okay, I'll try to answer the questions up to this point in one post :)

And yes, this is my first build, but it took me over a week to finish it! And I spend about 4 months reading here on LTTs forums and watching youtube videos! But I have to say, I study some kind of Computer Science at the Technical University in Graz, Austria, so I know in principal, how everything is supposed to work at least ;)

So, @CoolBeans, right now I have two 480 Rads in the System installed, I maybe could fit another 240 in the bottom, but there are a lot of cables right now and it would be harder to drain the loop I guess.

@ whatthe_fuzz it's called Dell SP2309W

@atrash I currently have 12 Fans installed, so I can really undervolt them and have no problem at all, if I do normal work or watch a movie or what ever, I have them running at 5 Volts, for gaming I turn them up to 8 Volts and only once, when I benchmarked the system, I turned them up to 12 Volts! So normally, they aren't really audible, at 8 Volts they are audible, but when gaming I normally have the sound of the speakers or the headphones at a volume, so that it doesn'T bother me!

Thanks guys for your responses, and thanks to you for providing so much information on PC building!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it :) Yeah, to get the tubing to fit was pretty hard, with normal tubing you just cut to length, but with this acrylic tubing it's not that easy! But I love the look of it :D
