just how badly will anything older than Haswell be affected by the recent Spectre and Meltdown Vulnerabilities?

just wondering how the older gens will be patched and if so, fully? what kind of losses could be expected, say, with my i7 4930K?

From what I've heard it depends greatly on workload.  I've heard from a few percent all the way up to 30% depending, with gaming being near the former.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

my main concern is if it'll even get a full coverage patch, rather than just the OS one. Seeing as I'm using an older platform on a 2013 CPU, (even though my 4930k still has warranty until sept 2018) as the pc is used by four people for work stuff, uni work and the likes?
