I found a $50 FX-8350... should I/is it worth it to put the dough in and build a cheap build?

 

I know how old of a processor it is but its 50 dollars for 8 cores lmao.

yes.  i played the witcher 3 on an fx 6300 ultra settings 43 fps on average with a 1050 ti 4gb by evga superclocked 2x4 (8gb) RAM ddr3 xpg and a 760g motherboard

I don't know what your reason to buy it other than "cheap" which isn't cheap either since you need a good Motherboard and nice cooler.

You don't want to run that at default speed.

 

You can get i5 2400/2500/2320 + Motherboard for $100 or less and that still faster than FX processor.

No just wait for the new amd apu to come out and get that. You can get it for 100 bucks and it can be a good cpu as well as have decent interfaces graphics to play games on.

$50 sounds alright for an 8350, power consumption concerns aside. If it's for a gaming PC with like $180 budget I'd call it OK. Back before Ryzen launched people rebenched them and found them on par with the i3-6100 and the Pentium G4560 in the games of the time.

 

Of course if you can just dish out the $70 for the G4560, you're in better shape.

No dont get it, Try and find a cheap older intel cpu if you are gaming like a i7-2600 or such. Also technically the 8350 doesnt have 8 cores in the sense that something like the ryzen 1700 has 8 cores. I dont fully understand it myself, it is more correct to say it has 8 threads than 8 cores.

No is a real 8C/8T CPU but it's single-threaded and multi-threaded sucks. Buy an i7-2600 or the like.

There are 2 core groups that share resources essential making them like 4c8t cpus in alot.of ways.

I bought it the build literally came out to $200 (mobo cpu ram psu and ssd) lmao. I need it for music production since it has such low latency. I am also overclocking tf out of it. I've come to the conclusion that spending 350+ for a mobo and cpu. Plus I have a spare GTX 970 laying around collecting dust rn.
