Go to NVIDIA's shop. The reference cards were the closest to MSRP that I could find circa last week.

I was lucky and bought my 1080 right after the 1080ti dropped. Got it for $530 with a $30 mail-in rebate. I'm so glad that I bought when I did. And to think I almost waited for Ryzen 5 to drop...

I think we can all agree we don't need 6 threads about the GPU pricing going up.

EDIT: And apparently they [GTX1070] are going for close to $700 used on Ebay as well!

Now I'm tempted to sell mine and buy a better one once prices go down....

I am so fucking glad I got my EVGA 1080Ti back in November when I built my rig.. I was seriously considering waiting and while I probably would have had a case I super wanted (H500 WITH airflow) and Zen+ I sure as hell wouldn't be able to get a video card.

God if AMD RTG wasn't such shit and been able to produce Vega in numbers that mattered they could have been crushing it right now.

It’s just a nice thought, nothing actually realistic, but what if we banned Crypto Currency? It’s a really bad investment in the first place, and like everyone else has been complain, GPU prices are SKYROCKETING. Furthermore, everything is going out of stock. I literally cant go through 24 hours on pc partpicker without having to change my graphics card choice.

I literally hope every single cryptocurrency crashes and they end up piss poor. I hate miners so damn much. Selfish pricks

Ethereum is on track to catch up with, if not surpass Bitcoin.  I expect it to reach $10-15k this year (from ~$1400 now) and the market cap of the overall crypto industry to move from 750 billion to 2.5 trillion in the same time.  If it's not Ethereum to drive up the price of GPU's, it will be the many niche alt coins that are also mineable (i.e. Sumokoin, Siacoin).

While several coins are switching from proof of work (GPU-based) to proof of stake (paying interest to owners), people will still likely mine the coins that are mineable and exchange them for the cryptocurrencies they want.

The demand for mining-capable GPU's won't go away any time soon.  This issue can only be resolved from the supply side.  Companies like AMD and NVidia will need to do one of two things.  1) Design specific cards for gaming and content creation (which are horribly inefficient for mining) or 2) Use this increased demand to hire more employees and produce a lot of GPU's.

As a crypto investor, I don't get mining.

Why invest $5000, hoping to eventually break even and start profiting in 3 months when you can just put $5000 into coins right now and have it grow to $10000 in the same period of time.

Now it's almost all cards. Only very cheap models escape. People even want to mine with a phone :)

I was hoping for prices to slowly go back down to finally get a new PC... Been waiting for months... But nope.

All because some people give an arbitrary value to virtual lines of codes.

Im travelling to New York for vacations and I was going to get stuff for a new pc or just buy a better card (currently have a 970), this really cause a problem for me since I`m from Argentina and the prices of everything tech-wise is expensive here (except now the prices are more similar).
