Should be Resolution vs Hertz...

 

1920x1080p 60-144hz

2560x1080p 60-144hz

2560x1440p 60-144hz

3440x1440p 60-120hz

3840x1620p 60-100hz

5120x2160p 60hz+

 

The GTX1070 / Ti are great for 100fps in many games even at 2560x1440p, many games are variable,.. some games run 100fps at 3440x1440 some games run just okay at 1920x1080p at Ultra (Wildlands)

 

Follow the benchmarks of the game series you like to play,....

Most of the games that i play are fps... so i guess the refresh rate would be better than the resolution

Yes there is.

The Clarity that comes from 2560x1440p is a nice jump over 1920x1080p, but your GPU has to keep up with 1440p from here on out over the years.

You will need 20-35%+ more performance to drive 1440p over 1080p. Sometimes more, sometimes less,... depending how the game was made.

Either 24" (Dell S2417dg or Acer XB241YU), or all those 27" models with these specs.

 

Trust me. G-Sync does make a difference, and it's absolutely worth increasing your budget by 100-200 bucks for it.

 

Your Monitor will last 5-10 years, and it will survive your next 2-4 graphics cards. Don't buy a cheap crap, it's worth more than your GPU!

 

Because: Your GPU only gives you something, when you Game.

Your Monitor gives you something when you Game, browse, videos, everything. The duration of using it, is higher, so it makes sense to spend more for something good (higher res, higher refresh rate, g-Sync).

 

 

Btw: between 1080p and 1440p:

- you lose around 20-40% fps. Depending on Game, settings etc.

- You get +80% the amount of pixels --> yes it does make a difference. Image is sharper, textures/edges have noticeably less flickering/aliasing.

 

My opinion, after i went to 1440p (despite having just a GTX 1060): It's worth. even if i didn't upgrade to a 1080 a few months later, i would've kept the 1440p Monitor, and would NOT go back to 1080p.

i bought a 3440x1440p monitor but only have a 280 do you think thats a problem i really only play mobas and mmos btw

It all depends, which settings you expect, and how much fps you expect.

i'm sure, you can make it work somehow.

1440p for me, i run 3440x1440 on a asus 1070 with no issues
