Plating Keycaps

coljnr9

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I'm looking for some advice.  I want to have metal key caps for my mechanical keyboard (cherry MX).  I was looking into some sort of 3D printing from Shapeways, but I was wondering if it would possible to simply plate the plastic caps that I already have.  Does anyone know if there exists some process to plate plastic with say steel or aluminium?  Thanks for any help with my weird request!

i highly doubt it as i don't think the metal would bond with the plastic

although you could vinyl wrap each of your keys

there is a process to chrome plate plastic, its really common for truck accessories but it will likely cost you more than you are willing to spend. That is if you can find a place that would do such a small order
