Thermaltake Core X71 Tempered Glass Edition Full Tower Vertical GPU mount?

Hello once again friends, 

 

So I purchase this case for my new build. I was surprised to learn that it has some sort of Vertical GPU mount that it came with. My question is will this gpu mount support a 1080ti strix? or is it just for watercooled gpus? below are some links to pictures.

EDIT: So it looks like on the case you can just thumb screw it in vertically? that with the pci extender will that be enough to support a full gpu with heatsink?

It most likely will.

How many slots thick is your strix? It has to be 2 or less in order to fit probably. I don't vertically mount my GPU.

From testing on youtube people it shouldn't be used unless water cooling.

Yes it will. It's actually better to mount long and heavy graphics card vertically as it puts less strain on the connectors. It also allows you to see the RGB lighting on the card; that's what the View series is all about anyway.

 

The downside is, you'll need to ensure adequate airflow inside the chassis if your card is not water cooled. Otherwise there's a tendency for blower and heat sink/fan cooled cards to run hotter than usual because of the reduced space between the front of the card and the tempered glass as opposed to mounting it horizontally on the motherboard. 

 

The extender cable is optional though and you'll have to get them from Thermaltake. I've tried using other riser cables and none of them is an exact fit to the mounting holes.

Yes it will fit, but you shouldnt use it if you're not water cooling your GPU, as theyre sitting too close to the tempered glass and are starved of fresh air.
