Core i7 8850H, 8750H, and other Coffee Lake cpus

Saw it on some forum post, so there really isn't any official information about this. The info was from AIDA 64 beta release notes, showing Intel's mobile cpu based on the Coffee Lake architecture.  What it will have is 6 cores and 12 threads. It's also speculated that clock speed might start out at 2.2GHz and turbo boost up to 4.3GHz, comes with 9MB of L3 cache, built on the 14nm++ process and announcement date is around March of 2018.

Now there will be a LOT more competition on mobile. (hopefully)

Please don't argue with me, I am just trying to help, or be helped. (we are all humans right?)

I'm really interested to see what the I9s are going to be marketed as tbh

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Wow 4.3 GHZ on laptop and 6 core 12 thread CPUs

Nice i'm gonna stick with ryzen though. I like AMDs new gen CPUs. I hope AMDs second gen ryzen will be a lot cheaper. Also they are not affected with the vulnerability, fix of which couses intel cpu performance degradation in linux.

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

2.6GHZ base on 6 cores fully utilized at 45 watts is really darn good! 4.3GHZ single core turbo is about where I though they might stretch it to. Was predicting up to 4.4GHZ. Maybe that'll be stock for the 8950HK overclockable one..

Now, the question is, won't it run a bit hotter than the 7700HQ that is also 45w TDP, at high loads? Come on, got to be since not 10nm. So throttling will be still an issue for a 3-fan MSI GS73VR thin gaming laptop unless MSI up's it's game.

Notebooks finally starting to get more love.

No really they arent if you look at the bigger picture, their cooling has not improved over the last decade, neither the battery capacity, and the most important the prices have not come down at all. A 6 core i7 on a notebook wont be affordable and the old core i3/i5 2/4core wont drop aswell.

Look at mobile phones a dual-quad core smarthphone cost so much years ago, nowdays you dont even consider buying a 4 core phone and its ultra cheap <100$ phones everywhere. Laptops have stayed at the same price range any laptop under 600$ is pretty crappy, for 600$ i should have an 6 core laptop with 16gb ram and decent gpu.

For the lower end sure. For higher end, doubt it. AMD haven't even got a VR capable laptop yet.

There's actually a whole thing that Coke, especially after they introduced Vanilla Coke, found that the new products did not take market share away their competitors but instead from their own existing products.  Granted with Soda/Cola consumption dropping overall, they're throwing anything at the wall to keep people interested.
