Split F@H/BOINC and Cryptocurrency sections?

sazrocks

Since Cryptocurrency has kind of taken over the F@H section, would it be possible to split them into two separate sections so that we folders can more clearly see topics posted by other folders?

EDIT: Maybe have a general "Distributed Computing" forum and subforums like "F@H", "BOINC", and "Cryptocurrency Mining"

I agree. Maybe have a general "Distributed Computing" forum and subforums like "F@H", "BOINC", and "Cryptocurrency Mining"

I'll add this to the OP.

Yeah that would certainly reduce the amount of times I'm like "Ah new folding question! ..... nope."

Not likely to happen. Forums get split if there's too much variation of content. With that forum it hardly gets 1 page of new posts in week and just bit over 1 page of active posts in week. Unlike OS which has page full of active posts just about Windows daily.

Except the few folding posts in that forum are drowned 3 pages in. It’s hardly a folding, boinc, and cryptocurrency mining forum when there are relatively no threads about folding and boinc.

Would separation bring wave of folding posts? I think not. There would be just as less posts.

I never said it would. I just said that it would separate and make plain to see the few folding posts that there are.

  • 5 weeks later...

While we understand the bad light mining has gotten recently and the wish to distance it from Folding and Bionc, it's not something we're going to do at this point.

We're not closed to changing things, but for now it's going to remain as-is.
