i7 8700 on stock cooler, Can it turbo?

So initially i wanted to use my salvaged Hyper 212 Evo on my i7 8700, but one of my nephews lost the mounting screws and other little stuff that come with the box, making the cooler useless since i cannot mount it. I tried buying them on but they seem to cost as much as new cooler -_- so i was thinking how good is the stock cooler? i know its not very good but i just want to make sure that if its enough for the CPU to reach its turbo clock.

Microsoft in there infinite wisdom have decided to impose a VRAM cap for games the that use DX9 o.O. May God Bless them those whoever came up with that idea.

It'll probably be enough. You won't get any comfortable temps though, it still is a stock cooler.

If it helps then my case got excellent positive air flow.

You'll probably find a few reviews on the internet, those would go more in depth.
I haven't ever used a stock cooler, so I can't say anything about it.

Hiho, enough? yes, might go down to 4.2~4.1 if you stress it too much... major issue you'll have is BLOODY NOIISSEEE seriously that stock cooler on 100% fan speed which gets to whenever you start really using it is very loud, reason why I didn't think twice when I got a 212X for mine.

Noise never really bothered me, i live in a rather big room with lots of higher ambient sounds (the humming sounds of my inverter charging my batteries, compressors working and lots of fans spinning around, AC running)  noise does bother me when i switch off all my other stuff and only thing on is my computer. In fact i was surprised by how i do not even notice my PC noise.

I just wanted to know if its enough to get the CPU to work properly without thermal throttling, and if its enough for the CPU to turbo boost.

It will throttle the turbo boost if the workload is too intensive, if you go stress it fully with aida64 for instance it will go above 80Cºand indeed throttle... more easy going usage though like gaming it should stay close enough to the 4.3ghz turbo... forcing 4.6ghz all core through BIOS is completely out of question though.

*sign* Guess i'll go buy an another 212 or something .... -_-. My workloads does stress the CPU and are generally very CPU intensive. Thnx o/

Yeah it does sucks even the 65w TDP processor has its fair share of hotteness thanks to Intel's toothpaste and that shitty stock cooler... even taking the copper base off to save a few pennies... Intel does makes me sick with their business practices, they are lucky they still offer superior product than AMD, but I do promise the day AMD is neck to neck with Intel's single thread performance I'll change teams :P

Yep, believe me the only reason i went with Intel regrettably is cause i really need a failry powerful CPU with good single threaded performance.  I am an application developer and my work involves in crunching lots of numbers and compiling tons of files and running lots of code and some decent rendering. I really feel in love with ryzen 7 1700 cooler yet i ended up with intel.
