My CPU is overclocked to 4.6GHz, but I don't normally push it this hard. I can see it's thermal throttling a little. Should I be worried about longevity at those temps?

Longevity is not an issue, these chips are made to thermal throttle at 105c and their shut-off point is around 130c. It'll last, but what you should be worried about is power draw. Unless paying your electricity bill is not an issue. :P

I've done a bit of research and can't seem to find anything to suggest what I should set my settings to in FAH.

Any advice would be most excellent.

If you've added your passkey and have a stable Internet connection, there's not much else you can or need to do to maximize your output.

Although a core O/C would help, it takes time to determine an overclock that's F@H stable(It's quite sensitive to O/C, and three WUs may pass but the 4th one could fail) and honestly you'd be better off just letting it run. With a 1070 Black Edition, you're helping quite a lot as is! :)

How do I know my machine is doing Covid work? The "I support research" area does not have that as an option.

Yes, the F@H servers are having trouble dispatching the volume of WUs we are demanding of them; many people have been reporting this over the last 3-4 days.

If you've set your preferences to 'Any', you're quite likely to receive COVID WUs. They have been assigned the highest priority.

I just installed but my client won't start up. I tried rebooting, installing as admin, using revouninstaller to delete registry files, and reinstalling again. Still nothing, I am going to paste the log file and hope anyone can help. All  the webcontrol does not detect my install and the local control just stays in connecting / inactive. Thanks in advance.

Hey everybody! I have a bit of hardware I inherited from my work that i've setup and tasked to folding as well as my gaming rigs.

They don't seem to be doing anything though. As best I can tell 0% cpu on the servers and 0% cpu/gpu on the gaming rigs.

When I look at the logs I see this repeatedly but for different IPs:

14:31:04:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '65.254.110.245:8080': No WUs available for this configuration
14:31:04:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 18.218.241.186:80

To me this sounds like it's trying to connect to get WU's and either can't connect (I'd expect a different message for that but you never know sometimes) or there truly is no WU's available.

Given the massive influx of compute power into the F@H community does this seem right? Does it seem like it's setup and there is just nothing for me to do?

Thanks!

Yep, that's it ^

The last week and a bit or so, there have just been such a bit influx of people folding, that we have run out of WU's.

More specifically, F@H is currently prioritizing COVID-19 WU's, which they are currently out of right now.

Just let it run for a bit more and at some point it should pick up a WU. If this goes on a for a long time (think like 2 hours or so), you can try to 'refresh' your computer asking for WU's, by pausing the client, waiting 40 seconds and then resuming it.

I have had the luck that is picks up a WU at that point, but not always.

By the way, if you're going to monitor the utilization of your hardware in Task Manager, be sure to set the GPU graph to CUDA (Nvidia) or one of the Compute graphs (on AMD videocards).

I set it up, and I think it's going, but when I look at the viewer, there's no info like "project" etc.  Is that normal? (I've only been running for a few minutes if it takes time to fill in.

Am I set up right?

Hi there,

I'm a noob here at the forum, and at folding.

I've configured my client with my User, LTT team number and Passkey, in the advanced control it reflects that, but my stats in web are never updated since the first WU.

Already tried to clear cache in the web browser, it works for a few ours and then it starts blinking, and loses my info....

I'm still folding and helping, but I would like to see my stats and help LTT team.

does anyone had this issue, and how did you solve it?

Everyone is having this issue, the stats.foldingathome.com page is just not updating. Web control is also kind of funky, so it's generally recommended to use advanced control (which you have open in your first screenshot)

Thankfully EOC is mostly updated and can be used to track your stats.

This website updates every three hours and has a ton more information than the normal stats page. Keep in mind though, they are still reliant on the official stats, so if those are having an issue in the backend, EOC can't update either.

Here is your EOC page:

@OpSecGuru I had trouble when first setting up Linux too.  I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 headless.  Since I didn't have the GUI had to manually add the GPU slot(s) to the config file.

Config file is located at /etc/fahclient/config.xml.  Example screenshot below.  You don't need to add the next-unit-percentage option, just the slot id and type.

image.png.be9a7948132b9b89d3fcc7c355978668.png

After changing the config file you need to tell the F@H client to restart.  You can use the following command to restart.

sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient restart -v

Also, there are a summary of Linux commands for F@H on the fah website. https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/installation-guides/linux/command-line-options/

Hope this helps!
