Baking GPU safe for oven?

So, as I mentioned in a previous post I am probably going to bake my GPU to hopefully bring it back to life. At this point in his video Linus says not to use an oven you wan't to use in the future. How serious is this? Can I use my oven just this one time and than air it out or should I run out and buy a used toaster oven?

Very serious, it will release toxic chemicals that will stay in the oven and stick to the surfaces and contaminate other food when heated up again.

Well unless you are ok eating metal and chemicals, I suggest buying a $20 microwave oven and not cooking much in it for a while or at all (clean it at least)

Baking it won't fix it btw. Linus got called out on this. It might fix it for like a week

It sometimes it fixes it.

 

Source: Tried it on 3 different dead cards, 2 out of 3 still work to this day, the third worked for a week until I dropped it and it snapped.

It wont "fix" it. It may make it for for a little while longer but when it dies then, it is beyond repair.

Do it only as your last resort while waiting for a new Graphics Card.

If you cant afford new one, just send this one for a repair.

Actually it might fix it for 6 moths allegedly. Thanks for the heads up but I don't care to do more with a GPU I picked up for 20$

You can't even safely run a microwave oven with a fork in it, let alone a graphics card with metal heatpipes and cooling fins and delicate circuitry...

It's out of warranty and I already got my money out of the motherboard I got with it so this is really just a because I can thing.

LOL. I don't 'need' a graphics card. My GTX 1070 is working fine on my main rig. This is just because I could care less about this thing and I might as well try. What have I got to lose, another 10$?

No, its a toaster oven. There are two options on my local craigslist for 10$. They can both go up to 425F which should be more than good for this.
