How to make 6 monitors look sexy (Not Mine)

Sets up a 6 monitor rig (using that term loosely) then watches TV on a smaller display... <_<

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

I've been debating on selling my 3 and buying 2 2560x1440's since it'd give me another ~1.1million pixels and maybe add a third down the road, would be nice, but for now it's just a dream lol

More pixels = more good.

this yours??

Yes, this is my setup.

Question: WHY?!?!

I recently upgraded my monitors from the 3 that are wall mounted to the 3 that are sitting on the desk. For $37 I was able to hook up all 6 monitors plus my TV, so I thought, why not?

I have never seen a worse placement for 7 monitors, all over the place.

Terrible placement? Yeah, I know. That kind of thing happens when you make "huge" upgrades to your setup. I originally had 2 wall mounted 21" monitors plus my TV. I got a third monitor to run Nvidia Surround after I picked up 2 GTX 760s. On Black Friday I saw some cheap 24" Dell monitors, so I picked up 3 of those to upgrade. They aren't the best monitors, but I'm not doing any color sensitive work, only gaming and they work plenty good for that. Because of the size of the monitors I was unable to wall mount them using my current mounts, and they were hanging dangerously off the edge of my monitor shelf. So I upgraded my desk this past week to accommodate the larger monitors.

As I said above, I was able to find the cables needed to hook up my 3 "old" monitors for cheap, so I thought, why not?

It is ridiculous, I'll give you that. But I'm a geek, I'll find a way to use all of the monitors...even if it means building another rig.

I think 6 monitors or more is fine, as long as the placement is fine. xD

I could certainly find use for that many monitors, it would be nice to see everything at once and not have

to tab through windows to find out my server status and other things.

You could run one monitor completely dedicated to viewing server status.

Three of them to eyefinity gaming.

Other three could be used to hold things like say your watching a podcast it could have that running

and you could be surfing or comparing pages on the other monitors. Say you like watching multiple twitches,

for example multitwitch.tv/luke_lafr/linustech . The possibilities are only crippled by how much imagination you

have, I'm currently dreaming of my third monitor and getting a 40" or so TV to hang above my eyefinity setup.

I would mount one or two on the ceiling (securely of course) right above my bed so I can still play games or watch movies while lying on the bed and no need to adjust my pillows.

I believe I will make it better after making another run to Ikea. But that won't happen until I have another Saturday off of work because the nearest Ikea (and Micro Center) is nearly 2 hours away. But the plan is to align them much better. I'm afraid the TV isn't moving though.

That's not even all of my hats. I have another 15 or so outside of this shot. And the big news...I haven't purchased a hat in over 6 months.

I see you like Captain America.

I'm realizing now that it might have been a good idea to actually pull some things up to demonstrate how I use the monitors. Ha

nice, can never have to many screens, i do think that the positioning of the screens might not be the best in the world. Having all 6 of  the smaller screens in one bank would probably be easier on the neck. For me though the perfect setup would be something along the lines of a 5 screen array with 2x30 inch on the top and 3x24 inch on the bottom. Also to much Iron Man and Hats for my liking.

someone need to make a series of action figures of significant people in the tech industry, (Bill gates, Woz, Balmer and maybe even gaben. Hell if someone made a two pack of Jen-Hsun and Rory Read figures i would buy that.)

I've been wearing hats for most of my life. I am "lucky" enough that I am able to wear a hat to work every day because my hair is a horrible mess. Since my head hasn't gotten any bigger in the last 13 years, I've "collected" all of the hats I've purchased in that time. That number currently stands at...34. I guess my hats are like my security blanket. I just don't feel right without one near.

Well that was quite a story there. Im really the opposite i guess i dont really wear hats at all unless its winter and its really really cold. But then again i dont grow my hair long i always keep them "short"
