RGB fans or Single Color LED fans?

Mister_Shots

Just got the NZXT S340 ELITE and I want to add some flare. Do I need RGB fans for effects like strobing and music effect or can I just use normal LED fans(with just one color). Just wondering because these fans are quite a bit cheaper than normal RGB fans. Also! my mobo is an ASUS PRIME B350 PLUS and has an RGB header but isn't listed on the Aura web page. Is there another program on I can use?

Generally single color LED fans have no connector for control they're just always on.

A cheaper option is to use your high quality fans, and just put an RGB Grille on them, such as these:

Hmm. That way I could have both lights and airflow. :)

Mother of god...I never knew those existed...

IMO RGB fans are just completely unnecessary.

A strip or two of RGB lighting, or those fan grilles will do just fine.

The RGB strobing fans that ThermalTake and Corsair released are just overkill...to a point it's dumb.

EDIT:

@Mister_Shots it looks like the RGB Header on your motherboard is only used to control the RGB lighting on the Ryzen Wraith CPU cooler.

In theory, it should be just a *regular* 4-pin RGB header, and you should be able to just it for an RGB LED strip.

I don't see how you can control the RGB lighting other than going through ASUS AURA -- unless it's somehow controlled through AMD's own software, or somewhere in the UEFI BIOS.

Did some quick searching around...confirmed that RGB fan header works with RGB LED strips:
