Upgrade suggestions?

so i am looking into my performance of my cpu: AMD ryzen 7 1700 oced to 3.8ghz, and my gtx 1080ti it seems like this cpu is bottlenecking my gpu like crazy. I'm looking to upgrade to a better cpu within the 550$ range for cpu and new Motherboard if needed. im looking and taking possible suggestions on what will be the best cpu combo for my gpu. i stream and play games on the same machine so keep that in mind. I was looking at a intel i7 8700k 6 core 12 thread but im not 100% sure that would fix the issue im having. basicly the 1080ti is having the same performance as my 1060 6gb.

If you're streaming stick with Ryzen and get the 1800x if you feel it's a CPU bottleneck. Intel's not great compared to Zen when it comes to streaming and gaming simultaniously

Something isn't right, a 1700 doesn't bottleneck a 1080 ti like that.

Is v-sync or gsync enabled?  What resolution are you playing at?

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

1700 should be fine unless you're playing at 1080p, in which case you shouldn't have a 1080Ti anyway.

but yes, intel i7s are generally slightly better at gaming (specifically high-refresh-rate) than AMD, so if you really want to upgrade (you shouldn't need to though), I'd go with an 8700K or 8700

try this first:

DDU & Reinstall.

If you don't know what this is, DDU stands for Display Driver Uninstaller, and is the ubiquitous way to uninstall GPU drivers. Most GPU problems are fixed with an uninstall and reinstall of their respective drivers.

You can download DDU here: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html , and I’d recommend using the “Clean and Restart” option.

Once this is done, you can download new drivers by clicking on the links below, and selecting your hardware.

Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Sorry if this is too much detail. This is a macro on my keyboard and I’m trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator

why do you have v-sync on a 1440p monitor with a 1080ti?

If you have a 1700 and a 1080ti it's gotta be software. The strongest gaming GPU and almost the strongest consumer-grade CPU shouldn't be trash.
