Hey

My friend is starting to code and I was wondering if netbeans is a good IDE for beginners

What language are they coding in? I've only ever used Netbeans for Java and HTML5 (HTML/CSS/Javascript) and I had no issues.

You should consider using IntelliJ instead.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

At work we use visual studio code. Mostly using angular, node and htnl/css.

Here most college universities that teach Java and Html use Netbeans or Eclipse while most people will prefer Intellij unless you want to program Angular and such as the free Intellij version doesn't support that. If your friend is still in school he can apply for the full version of Intellij as a student that's about the best you can get.

NetBeans is great. We used it exclusively in school.

If you're in school and want to go for the education version of IntelliJ absolutely go head, but if someone came and uninstalled IJ from my computer and told me I could only use NetBeans I'd definitely survive.
