Improving 4G speed

Shouom

Hi, i recently switched to a 4G network, because the DSL connection i previously had was pretty terrible.

1 morning i woke up and i was downloading a game from steam with 5 megabytes a sec.

The thing is that the receiver in the 4G router is pretty weak i think. I am getting 1.5-2.3 megabytes per second, but i think it could be improved.

Could i make the connection faster by connecting some better antennas here? And if yes, then what kind?

It depends on what speeds you are paying for.

In the contract it's agreed for 20 megabits at least. There is no mention of max.

Could i get it to be consistantly at 5 megabytes or at least 4? I've had it been this fast!

Well if you're paying for 20 Megabits down, then you are averaging what you're paying for. Remember, 8 bits = 1 byte.

But then howcome i've had it download at 5 megabytes per second? I seriously have.

Also note it's very rare to ever get the advertised speed. Especially with wireless networks, you'll be lucky to even approach it.

I am pretty much always having the advertised speed, because i live near a tower and not a very populated area. Would the antennas improve it?

If you're near the tower, then you're more or less in an ideal spot. Any network problems are either due to congestion or server load and is beyond your control.

Can you please answer the question?

I can't answer that, I've had similar things happen to me. The company's system might have goofed for a bit.
