Sharing Laptop's Internet to Desktop through Ethernet cord?

Evellence
Go to solution Solved by iamdarkyoshi,

I multiselect my laptop's wifi and ethernet ports, right click, bridge

It just works plug n play for me.

If you've got an android phone, you can use it as a wifi receiver via USB tether as well

Hello!

So as the title says, PC does not have access to wifi, laptop does.

I got the ethernet cable, connected PC and laptop, and in network connections control panel for ethernet i enabled sharing.

Problem is, on ethernet connection it says "indentifying..." . How do i fix this?

PC is brand new, no drivers on, only LAN driver installed. It does detect ethernet cable, but its stuck on indentifying just like laptop.

you probably have to make a static ip on both, because of the lack of a switch between them

Give the desktop a static IP address in the same subnet as your home wifi. (Usually 192.168.1.x, sometimes 10.0.0.x)

Your mask should be 255.255.255.0 and gateway is probably 192.168.1.1 (This is all  info you can find by running "ipconfig" in command prompt.

Your laptop is not forwarding DHCP addresses, nor is it running a DHCP server. Therefore you will need a Statically assigned IP.

Okay. So i just need to change that on PC. And there is no need to change anything at laptop (receiver)?
