I have an Asus PG279Q paired with a 1080Ti and think it's nice.  Adaptive sync technologies are pretty nice, but you pay a high cost for G-Sync monitors.

You'd able to run games at higher graphical settings at 1080p and hit the same fps.

Also cheaper, and lets you know if you even care about 144hz.

A 1070 should be fine for 1440p/144.  You may wish to go to a store to check out 1440p to see if you like it, ideally with being able to use the computer connected to the 1440p display, maybe play a demo.

So do I and I don't really care about 144hz, wasn't a magical difference for me and I'm looking into 4k 60hz now.
