Linux is the most lightweight and MacOS will be the most difficult to get running.

I just can't do Mac... I have used them and can't handle the mouse scrolling being back to front...

i prefer Linux (Ubuntu)

 

it is lighter than Windows, doesn't send a ton of data to Microsoft, and very customizable. 

 

the only reason i need Windows is for gaming. 

 

OSX is very nice as well, but i don't like apple that much. (i had a 2009 macbook that apple stopped supporting for no reason at all, and i can't afford a new mac...

Wait where? Also can you change the annoying finder program to one that works? Even Windows dora the explorer is better than finder...

I like Mac hardware, and dislike the OS. Also I'm poor and can't afford them?. Did luke ever work out how to get virtualization to work

A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

 

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

Trackpad / mouse settings. Finder works pretty good! Maybe just different. What troubles are you having?

System Preferences > Trackpad > Scroll & Zoom > Uncheck "Scroll direction: natural".

 

There are also numerous Finder alternatives.

Honestly windows is mostly only used for gaming compatibility, microsoft suite, and adobe. Otherwise MacOS is much better and even more so linux.

I honestly wish wine worked. That would solve our problems. Linux for everything, running Windows programs in wine. Too bad it's more like vinegar than wine...

vmware with hardware accelerated low level-acces to gpu would also work. but as far as i'm aware that doesn't exist yet.

There are things like Linustech...i mean limetechs unraid... but that is pretty much just fancy dual booting.

Theres no need for a refresh button ;)

To find network drives easier they automaticially pop up in the side.

To enter one which is not loading go to Finder - Go - Connect to Server (or go Command-K), then either enter

 

CIFS://servername

AFS://servername

SMB://servername

 

Of which CIFS is the fastest by a lot, but results will vary. Then drag the server to your finder bar on the left and it will automaticially connect when in range using that protocol.

yeah, it is... setting that up is more of a hassle than clicking restart and waiting 30 seconds for my pc to boot into Windows..

Maybe there is no need for one, but i want one just in case. It is like that switch on the back òf some PSU units. Do you need it? No. Do you want it in case your computer freezes? Yes. The amount of times I have had to refresh things on all my computers is unbelievable. This is a theme running through apples devices... I like to call it... mainstreaming. Locking away power user features so people don't break stuff. Windows does it as well. And that is the main reason I use Linux. Also people can't just type root into my terminal and have full access ;-)
