Internet Throttling?

Internet usage (otherwise acting completely normal from what i've noted, discord normal traffic)

I've tried:

Restarting my computer, (which intentionally fixed it but the moment i booted a game it started spiking in latency again HMMM)

Restarting my router

Switching from wifi to Ethernet (via a 50ft ethernet cable running down two floors to the router)

And of course, as I'm finishing up typing this out, it all starts behaving...

It's one thing if it happens for 10 minutes and goes away, but this is day 3 of these latency issues and I'm just wondering if I'm missing anything? ISP is Spectrum (Charter), formerly TWC which was known for throttling games a few years ago...

Odd. You could try using a VPN service to confirm that it is not targeted capping. I doubt it is though, as it's not only illegal, but there is no reason to cap anything like that ping wise. You said you switched to ethernet? You might be dropping a lot of packets. I'm thinking that it could be an issue with your modem or the coax in your house. If you use a surfboard modem, you should be able to get some stats by going to 192.168.100.1.

My native language is C++

get glasswire on steam and find the ip that you game is communicating with, then use CMD to ping it

Ooo I like glassware!Very useful. Just downloaded it (im definitely having issues because it took me 1 minute to download a 30mb file... and my speed was an average of 4Mbps when its usually 24Mbps)

Pinged one of the game servers and it was 100ms, which is a bit high. Most games are usually within 40ms from my NY location. Kinda wish the graph would show individual program/IP's but thats probably one of the paid versions

Could be a signal issue. Cable modems have to operate with in a set spec. If the signal goes to shit you can have issues.

Not sure if they allow access to your modems diagnostic page. As Comcast does. But try to go to 192.168.100.1 in your web browser. There will be a signal tab you can go to. Compare your signals with here: https://www.dslreports.com/faq/5862

If your out of spec, there are a few things you can try. Check all coax connections to make sure they are tight. If you notice a lot of uncorrectable errors on a certain channel, it could be cause by interference. Remember the same frequencies your cable company uses over the coax are the same ones broadcast TV and Cellular data use. So if those wireless signals are getting in to the cable system, it can cause havoc. Generally this only happens if you have a loose or damaged connector, or a bad cable. This can be inside your home or our side on the cable companies equipment.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
