The MX300's can only run as sata, so that would be quite pointless to do. (assuming by PCIe ssd, he means NVMe/able to run at NVMe speeds)

If you don't mind losing access to traditional warranty/support and Samsung Magician, have a look at some of the OEM (PM and SM) series of Samsung drives. They are usually 20-30% cheaper than the consumer drives they are equivalent to, with equivalent performance. But be wary of the support offered, you're unlikely to get firmware updates if they are ever needed to fix any breaking issues.

 

I've been using a SM951 which is roughly equivalent to the 950 pro, and I saved about £100 going this route (along with being able to buy the SM951 a few months before the 950 pro came out).
