    • ULTRA ONLY
    • ULTRA but have GPU on top of GPU to push sick FPS
    • High settings, ULTRA is 2% visual gain for 50% performance loss
    • Mixed settings to whatever gives me stable frames

I also notice those differences, but it's idiotic to waste money on parts just because they must have their games running at the triple digits on ultra settings.

In a way, I agree. Many of the games people must play at full ultra aren't even competitive games that mandate 60+ FPS. Even then, most competitive games are pretty well optimized and can easily be run on a 1070 at ultra at 100+ FPS unless you're talking about 21:9. Though I don't have much room for criticism, since I'm the kind of person who will stack SGSSAA over DSR as much as possible unless I'm dropping below 45 FPS :P

On main pc Ultra but just at 1080p/60 on a old 50" Panasonic LCD TV . Using  Vega  56 (64bios) but would turn down if it started to feel choppy ect. But for the most part I don't worry about FPS , if some day I get a fancy monitor with higher refresh or start to use the main 4k/120 TV then maybe that would change

If i am upstairs I use high/  on most very high / ultra on some on a Gtx 780ti  again though just on a 50" 1080p/60 TV

Some people like flare. Why fault them for it? It's like wearing a $400 pair of Louis Vitan jeans vs $40 Levi's. They don't NEED to wear them and they know it, but if they can afford it let them waste what they want

I agree you do look like youre just trying to show off your huge wallet for epeen points when you JUST GOTTA HAVE IT @ 6Mx190,000 resolution at Godly graphics settings though. Cmon, you're 4 feet from your monitor. Stop trying to count the damn grass blades in Civ VI

1080 Ti strix. Ultra but I always turn off AA. And if I need to adjust further, I reduce shadow quality. Never look at fps counters, don’t care. Judge the performance on how it looks and feels not by a number.

Love not hate

4-ish. I'm comfortable around arms length from the keyboard/mouse and my monitor is maybe another 1/2 - 1' further from that. And when I'm playing with a controller (driving games, emulators, platformers) I'm sitting back even further. So make it 3' minimum

Mixed Settings

I used to have (2x) 660ti in SLI but I just upgraded to a 1070 this morning.

Prior to the upgrade. I would first set the general settings to ULTRA then lower the individual settings until I get 60+ fps. The first one to go is usually Anti Aliasing , as I don't often perceive the jagged edges when playing games

R9 390 here.

Ultra until the fps gets noticeably choppy. Then I'll lower the settings starting with the ones that are "not noticeable".

I let games choose settings for me nowadays, although my main game of FFXIV is more CPU bottlenecked than GPU. Playing 1440p on G-sync display, max settings. To be honest in past when I still had 980Ti, I had to drop to high, and I can't see the difference. Maintaining adequate fps is the goal here, with practical minimums in the 90's it is adequate. I think I can get better minimums if I ever switch from my stock 6700k to one of my faster systems but I'm too lazy to reconfigure #firstworldproblems

Ultra settings are a meme.

t. GTX 1080 user. High settings are better optimized and the extra frame rate is much better imo.

Ultra for whatever possible but I tone down other aspects in the "graphics" options of a game to maintain 60+ fps.
