  1. 1. How many of you here play games at ULTRA only with all bells and whistles? and what GPU do you own?

    • ULTRA ONLY
    • ULTRA but have GPU on top of GPU to push sick FPS
    • High settings, ULTRA is 2% visual gain for 50% performance loss
    • Mixed settings to whatever gives me stable frames

High.. depending on the game of course.

I usually play at either 1080p ultra or 4k high-ultra. Gotta get that magic 60fps man.

You forgot,

Play at ultra with everything cranked up at least 200FPS, then notice bottleneck spend $1000+ on upgrades and bottleneck still exist, sheeit! Then go online to create topic and rant about it, to  the sound of crickets chirping and frogs croaking.

Usually Ultra only... Strix 980 TI with Ryzen 1600. But since I play some games in 4k depending on the mood I might bump down to a mix of high and ultra.

Mixed Normal-High @ 1080p sub 60fps but it works for my taste. Not a pixel junkie

Phenom II 955 + XFX RX 460 4gb

There are a few surprising titles that can hold frames at Ultra. Doom, The Evil Within, Outlast, Minecraft, Minesweeper, Sonic, Pinball...

Usually ultra if I can get 100+ FPS. I can achieve that in most all games except PUBG.

The only game I can play right now is Hearthstone, but I think we all aim for Ultra don't we?
Great post though, I've often wondered what the percentage would be across the forum, and if it follows the general Steam survey trend. Though, since it's a forum of youngin's, I imagine it'll be slightly skewed ;)

Ultra 1080p60, but everything I play isn't demanding and a R7 370 and i5 4460 can get ultra 60 fps on nearly everything I play.

Had no issues with cod and looks. Advanced didn't look so good for me but ww2 looks horrid. Between horrible hit registration and hacks I cant play it like I used to with past cods. First one I didn't own day one.

When gaming, stop looking at those stupid fps counters and gpu/cpu graphs for bottlenecks, they will ruin your gaming experience. I'm currently playing Cities:Skylines on my ancient video card, it runs great, no lags or anything, but when I fired up FRAPS to see how many FPS my card is running, it's only at 30FPS.

Well playing only fps games I'll watch the frames and times. I don't play on a laptop anymore with 35fps. That's like going back to console and giving myself a handicap.

Depends on the game. Since Ultra usually doesn't give much of an IQ boost, I'll usually enable SSAA or use DSR and if the frames are acceptable, I'll push further to Ultra.

This is the problem with most of the new PC gamers of today, they must have FPS in the triple digits or at least 60 FPS with ridiculous settings. Not sure why they want it, is it for epeen status? I don't know...

Last time I ran GTA V, I remember it was around 45FPS and I had a great time playing that game. Now compared to a person who must have at least 60+ FPS, is probably on the forum right now asking for help or wasting more money on unnecessary upgrades.

As others have said, it really depends on the game. I have an easy setup to run. currrently have a evga hybrid 1080 powering a 1080p 144hz monitor. Most games I play (cause it's only 1080p) can easily run games on ultra settings at 144fps or higher. However, there are some games that just don't like COD Ghosts, GTA V, project cars, so for games like those, I try to turn down the settings so I can achieve 100 - 120 fps or higher. But for the most part, most of my games are on ultra.

I don't agree with the "ultra settings or nothing" mythos that a lot of people seem to have, but there's a noticeable difference between 60 FPS and 100+ FPS that can affect the enjoyment of a game. I personally don't think it's needed, but it's certainly nice to have.

I also notice those differences, but it's idiotic to waste money on parts just because they must have their games running at the triple digits on ultra settings.
