On another news in the future piracy is even bigger thorn on their sides and games pirated on a bigger scale zhan ever....

Lets hope there will be studios/devs who dont pock up this cancer

If there's no AAA games to pirate it will hardly matter.

hey cdproject plz dont be bad developers, we need more trust worthy mother fuckers out there.

I'm not denying them specifically, but they're indies. They just happen to have AAA sized games but they're the exception and not the rule and a very rare exception at that.

I think they should just let Dice do their game and not made fucking lootcreates and pay-to-win games. EA is the definition of pay-to-win. Fifa? NHL? and now battlefront 2, its not worth its title... Battlefront 2 (original) was one of the most influenceing games on my childhood. And Ill love that game till I die, but EAs bs games? No, its just like battlefield 1, was fun in the openbeta but when it got released it was trash.

I liked the progression in BF4, gun unlocks for each class, use a gun and earn attachments for said gun. Easy as that. If you wanted they had some cheap crates you could buy to unlock dog tags, camo, and attachments, and you never felt like you needed to buy them.

But for real now: As long as each fifa/madden release will be blockbusters on their first month of release, EA and Wilson have nothing to worry about.

One day I will be able to play Monster Hunter Frontier in French/Italian/English on my PC, it's just a matter of time... 4 5 6 7 8 9 years later: It's finally coming!!!

Lol. I hope they learn, and as @Avve1000 said, let DICE (and the other studios under the EA label) do their thing, and stop trying to squeeze money out of it. Do the best you can, and the money will come regardless. Look at the original Battlefront II, it delivered just what people wanted, and still sells copies 12 years after the release.

Until you know which way the various gambling commissions/committees are going to jump, waiting's the safer choice. Basically it comes down to if they declare loot boxes gambling, and then if the regulation they put in place also covers the Ultimate Team mechanic. If neither happens, good buy. If A but not B happens, EA stock will recover slowly and be worth it to buy, but probably won't climb nearly as fast. If A and B happens look for the stock to tank hard.

Also love how WCCF quotes him concerning the Pink Vader.  Seriously sounds like the only thing he looks at as a 'cosmetic item' is a color palette swap on a character model.

https://wccftech.com/ea-microtransactions-star-wars-battlefront-2/

Quote

If you did a bunch of cosmetic things, you might start to violate the canon. Darth Vader in white probably doesn’t make sense, versus in black. Not to mention you probably don’t want Darth Vader in pink. No offense to pink, but I don’t think that’s right in the canon.

Welp, we know that Jorgensen didn't read the officially licensed Star Wars Infinities. Vader did end up in white armor xD

EDIT: In case anyone is curious (spoilers)

I'm going to call it now: next round of AAA games will do things like force always-online DRM even for single player and if it's multiplayer title to begin with they'll move it to a subscription based model or something very similar to loot boxes in a full pay-to-play scheme but for AAA releases. This will actually get far worst now.

Your prediction or callout is nothing new. SimCity required always online for single player games and EverQuest started the pay to play.

You have made a observation. Good job.

I7-7700k@5.1ghz + 1080ti @ 2050mhz + 32gbs Ram + 2TB SSD = CSGO

i7-6700k@4.9ghz + 980ti @ 1501mhz + 16gbs Ram + 1 TB SSD = Backup

To clarify: I am saying that there will be no AAA game released without something like this at all. Over the course of a year or so, all publishers will attempt similar schemes on all games since the consensus seems to be AAA development is no longer commercially viable due to the exponentially growing development cost vs the return of investment of a single, 60 dollar purchase.

I know things like microtransactions and always-online DRM aren't new, but I am saying they have never been pursued as aggressively and this is a trend I predict will continue specially since EA lost so much damn money on this exchange: the reaction is not the usual "let's regroup and rethink our strategy" but counterintuitively, it's to actually enact even more extreme measures since they'll perceive themselves to be on an even bigger hole now.

Losing Disney is probably next so they can forget about them lucrative franchises.

But back on topic: This might be the beginning of a videogame crash: EA did this because they have lost all confidence in the market's ability to sustain AAA development and such a great reversal probably means they'll either try something even worst and alienate players even further, spiraling into a rapid cycle of tremendous loses and eventually making all major names default.

I'm going to call it now: next round of AAA games will do things like force always-online DRM even for single player and if it's multiplayer title to begin with they'll move it to a subscription based model or something very similar to loot boxes in a full pay-to-play scheme but for AAA releases. The going rumor is that they reversed the Battlefront decisions due to pressure from Disney that didn't want them impacting their upcoming release negatively. Since both Disney and EA plan on yearly franchises I think Disney might reassess the risk and at the very least strongly suggest something that's not going to sit well with EA like moving launches to the summer, far away from their winter Star Wars releases.

I can see Disney deciding to just give the franchise to someone else, more willing to put out safe, by the numbers videogames that take little risks and just help promote their movies overall instead of this heavy handed EA tactics.
