Shortage of VRAM

What would happen should the game require more VRAM than the the graphics card can offer and how can I fix it?

Then you have to set the setting so low you can run it. I hear that in some cases game wont even start without changing settings to lower which card are you using ?

Well it would swap to RAM or even worse, storage.

FPS would tank quite hard (like single digit FPS) and you can fix that by lowering quality settings so textures don't use that much VRAM anymore or upgrade the GPU to one with more VRAM.
