The only way the i7 7700k brand new can be a good deal nowadays is if priced below the i5 8400 either ways

If youre lucky enough to live near one, microcenter almost always has the best deals on processors/mobo bundles. Its a great all around resource if youre building a system. 

 

I got my cpu/mobo power supply, fans and keyboard and mouse from there and saved a ton. They often have some good open box cases for cheap there too. 

 

Gpu prices arent that great though.

this. microcenter is the ONLY place to get CPUs, IF and only IF, you live near one within a few hours drive. I keep telling my stupid cousin that lives in Idylwily, CA to drive 2 hours to MC but he's lazy and rather sped the extra 150 to get new CPU from newegg with CA tax..
