HP Envy X360 Ryzen with VEGA graphics specs

Took some pics on this HP Envy X360 running on AMD Ryzen mobile with VEGA mobile graphics. Can't do much on it, they set as standard user. Here is the detail specs for the VEGA mobile graphics

256MB of 400Mhz VRAM and a 300Mhz core clock?? Why bother?

 

Any idea how many compute units it has? With those specs I can't see this beating even the entry level Intel iGPUs... Although it's obviously not meant for gaming, it's just there to drive the display. Which I guess is fair considering it's a 2-in-1 for $800...

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

For comparison. Also a HP Envy X360, but with Intel 8th gen and Nvidia MX150. First image is from the Intel HD graphics and second is from Nvidia MX150. Even the Intel bandwidth is much higher than VEGA. Intel at 38.4GB/s, Nvidia at 48.1GB/s

it has 8 compute units (Vega 8 ) . Also , it's very possible that those clocks are for idle . The reporting is also sketchy , seeing a PCI interface . It's likely there is misreporting.

Kind of a late reply but I found this thread because I just bought this HP x360 amd radeon ryzen yadda yadda I don't really know that much about computers. But are you saying it's not that good of a laptop? I'm trying to find a laptop for video editing for relatively cheap...

The mobile VEGA on the 2500U is faster than Intel onboard graphics, but it's no match to the graphics from Nvidia. The laptop is decent, but graphic performance could be better. AMD does have a 2700U with better moble VEGA graphics. Currently there are no laptops with this cpu.

Should be fine for video editing, but one problem is the extremely dim screen, and ram needs a upgrade to like 16gb. Why not just run your editing program and see how well it goes. Do not like the results then return it for something else like a dell xps 15 with nvidia graphics. Now this one will cost over $1,000. Also there is rumor to have new models at this year's CES. There might also be announcements on Intel 6 core mobile. Don't like that Ryzen, then return and wait until after CES before buying something else.
