so i bought the disc for sims 4 and im not sure if i still have it or not. i do have the CD code still is there a way i can just use the code to play it and download it online somehow?

i do have my origin account too but im not sure if that allows it or if that matters. like does it save that owned the game and will let me download it?

and my last question is if the computer doesn't have a DVD slot can i still play it? i have a plug in DVD drive but i dont want it plugged in to play it becase then i cant really be portable with my laptop

You need the origin desktop client, after getting that you just need to sign in and check your library.

if it's not accessible through the origin app, it's probably possible to torrent the cd, since you purchased it and lost the cd I'm pretty sure it falls into a legal loophole, a grey area at least.

My copy of Sim 4 which was originally bought as a disc can be downloaded through Origin on my PC. I don't even need the CD to play it so you should be able to play it without. If I'm not mistaken you needed origin to even install the game.

@MetallicArcherfish check the manual or inside of the DVD case.

It should contain a serial number, if so then install the Origin client - Then read this on how you can redeem a CD Key/Serial Key (It states that it is outdated & archived, but it is still the same deal)

Heheh I remember back in these days before Steam and such was around when you'd buy the physical copy of the game with a serial and you were forced to have the main disk in... remember people getting cracks even when they owned the original copy just to avoid the hassle.

Now it's 2017 and despite owning the games on steam, we go out to find the old big box version just to display on a shelf.  :D

Gotta say that is one little piece of art in there, I do have the original packing of Need For Speed Underground 2 and Need For Speed Most Wanted as well as Counter-Strike Condition Zero stocked somewhere... not like installing these is even a thing nowadays though as my computer doesn't even have cd/dvd bays any more xD
