OP 5T Release

Septimus

New to the market, but should I be worried about picking up one of these phones as soon as possible? This is a great option for me, as its a flagship phone for $500, and I don't want to miss out on it just because I waited too long and it went out of stock.

I agree that this is what the OnePlus 5 should have been but wasn't. I've got an iPhone 5S and have been keeping my eyes peeled for a good phone around the $500-$600 range. Do you think it would be better to wait? And for what exactly?

I would, especially this close to new releases. I'm not sure what I'd recommend though, I always end up disappointed when I wait for a phone :P Sony, LG, Huawei, they pretty much all put out phones around MWC.

One of the most potentially interesting phones could be the ZTE Axon 8. There's one coming, nothing's known, but the Axon 7 was a landslide victory IMO.

Alright, thanks for the input. Depending on how Black Friday sales end up looking I may wait. Huawei P10 is on my list of anticipated phones.

I tend to use my phone for a few years before I consider replacing it. How noticeable is a difference with something like a Snapdragon 835 vs an 845 after a few years? With Apple's products, it is quite noticeable. But considering Android is quite a bit lighter, is there really any reason to worry about performance degradation in things other than app launch times?

To see if it drops in price? The P10 is indeed nice, too bad about the storage woes though. Completely ruins Huawei for me.

You'd be fine. Degradation is different from device to device. Personally, I buy a new phone every year to get the maximum return on my old one. The new SoCs offer newer features which may or may not be beneficial to you. It's not like they'll be bogged down with new versions of Android anyway, at the rate most OEMs get them to devices :P

Nokia should be releasing a phone soon. The Nokia 0 has been rumored for ages. Might be worth looking into as well.
