$500 Gpu Gaming/Mining

drkknghtavngr

I want to buy a Gpu for gaming/mining, mining is slightly priority. My budget is $500.

Is it better to buy a single 1070/vega 56 or dual Rx 480/1060 6gb. Note: I am not gonna crossfire as my mobo dont support it but I can mine with one Gpu running 24/7 and the other for gaming/mining.

Which is more profitable?

Mining with only 1 card is hardly profitable.

Buying a card for gaming and not mining = no profit at all, buying a card and mining from time to time still gives you more then no mining at all, if you discard power costs.

So your statement is false and also not helpful in anyway.

I mine on my RX 480 and my R7 1700x @4GHz whenever I do not play games/not use the PC (while sleeping or at work) and have made about 300€ the last couple of months so the card payed for itself which is still more then nothing/not mining! On a sidenote: I do not pay for power.

You have to understand my statement correctly first. I'm recommending him to get 2 cards because a 1070 or Vega will have worse mining performance than 2 of the cheaper cards, even after taking the price difference between the two options. If he does pay for power then a single card wont give much profit.

How can you not pay for power?

Student, living in parent's house, that sort of thing.

Power is a factor that must be considered if you are going to mine, you'll eat up the profits if your power rate isn't good.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I believe rx 480 is slightly more profitable than gtx 1060 6gb so is 2x rx 480 better or is it wiser to buy 1 rx 480 and 1 gtx 1060 6gb so I can choose which gpu to use depending on the game?

RX480/580 and GTX 1060 do better in different currencies @Simon771 gave you a link to calculate that.

Performance between the two arent great enough to use two different cards.
