4 phase VRM enough for OC 6700K?

How are you?

I am looking at a bundle, that comes with memory, a 6700k and a z170X Ultra Gaming.

The price is good, but I am just not sure about the board.

When I look at it, it seems to have really weak VRM.

From reading reviews, it seems to only be a 4+3 VRM design.

Is this enough to overclock the 6700k and also overclock the memory to 3000 or above?

Or will I run into throttle issues, or heat issues, or stability issues due to the not robust VRM?

Well my Ryzen 1700 was working fine on 4+2 power phase and no VRM cooling.

It have 8c/16t ...

 

It's not the best motherboard for overclocking, but it will get the work done. Maybe not the highest overclocks, but does another 100-200MHz matter that much to you? Only you can decide.

You didn't have the Mortar long enough to explode

and Ryzen 7 eats just a bit more than 6700K when both overclocked

You are correct ... I only had it for few months, but during that time it was on 3,8GHz overclock with VRMs hitting upper 90°C mark very often.

Yet there weren't any problems with it even after months of usage like this.

 

Say whatever you want, but that motherboard won't just explode. Worst case scenario it will simply crash your system.

Thats literally a small explosion.
