Display upgrade: 3D vs 1440p?

davidmorpurgo

I'm planning to change soon my monitor cause the Samsung 24" TV that i'm using now has a really bad pixel response time... By doing this i also want some new feature such as more pixel or 3D.

So the question is: witch would you get 1440p or 3D?

And would you get the asus VG278H? are 1080p enough for a 27"?

(Sorry for any language mistakes)

Personally, I would go for 1440p. 3D is still a gimmick for me and I get headaches pretty quickly after using 3D. 1080p for a 27" monitor is still alright, but I would prefer a higher resolution.

I would go for the higher resolution of the 3D. Although games running at 120+ FPS on a 120 Hz monitor is fantastic.

I gree if you are looking into IPS monitors and higher resolution then 1080P I would recommend doing that then 3D. Going above 1080P is so sweat and man do you get into the games more

I wouldn't go for the 3D but for the 120Hz over 1440p.

This is a question that you can only decide so... Try out some 3D demos at you local stores and see how you like it for like an hour. Sure you may look stupid standing there with glasses on watching TV for an hour but its better to actually get a feel for it yourself. 1080p is good enough for a 27" but if you were wanting to get a $400 more, than get a 1440p. See if you can find both features. In my opinion, when I first looked at 3D displays, I was like AWESOME but then now, its like, oh its a 3D display...... nothing special here.. so. I would recommend going for 1440p

1440p personally, but it's all subjective.

You were a noob once too!

I personally would go with a 1440p screen, there was a time when I did want 3D but lost interest quickly. Only really you can decide on what you like.

+1 for 1440p.

Unless your a hardcore gamer seeking minimal response times or need the 3D experience, 1440p is the way to go. Going from 1080p -->1440p is a lot like 720p -->1080p.

I have a 2560x1440 monitor and simply love it. Prices are also coming down, my Dell U2713HM was $615 with one-day shipping from amazon.

1440p is definitely the way to go. Hopefully more games will use that sort of resolution soon seeing as though graphics cards can display 4k resolutions.

I have a 32" screen with 1360x768 resolution... Might pick up a 1440p 27", would the difference be huge?

If you're into multiplayer FPS gaming and have a strong PC that can drive games at 100-120 FPS go for a 3D Monitor but don't use it for 3D gaming, use it for 2D with 120Hz refresh.

If you're not into that kind of gaming - go for a larger screen with more pixels, 1440p etc.

Well I play almost only FPS games and my intention is to play in 2D most of the time anyway... So I don't know if would be better having a good gaming 1440p @60Hz or a 120Hz 1080p... But I'm concerned by the low res in this case (I'm considering the two Asus models)

Been lookin into this myself actually.

The answer is definitely 1440p.

Gettin a 3d monitor to play at 120Hz is pointless. U will never notice the difference, but u will notice a big difference with 1440p.

3D is actually gd fun . . . for a little while at least anyway. U want to know u made the right choice further down the line so go with the higher res option

Well I just realized that no one of the PC stores near here have a 120Hz nor a 1440p monitor... So I can't try anything by myself :(
