Need help upgrading pc

I want to upgrade the motherboard,cpu,ram,and gpu of my custom built pc,but if I do will I have to buy a new copy I windows 8.1?

As long as you have a retail windows 8/8.1/10 key you should be able to transfer it when changing the motherboards. The issue comes with OEM keys from manufacturers, those are usually linked to the motherboards

How can I check if it’s a retail key ? I bought it off of kinguin

I believe that you would have to contact customer support with the code if you wanted to check if it's OEM or not

99% sure you have OEM. They are hit and miss. Some work, others don't. One way is to call MS and lie/beg for activation. That's price for cheaping out when buying OS.
