I want to make a PC last as long as possible while providing smooth game play. Is free sync a good option? All I want Is buttery smooth game play. My rig is on my profile.

Yes, it will help make your gameplay smoother when your framerate is on the lower side.

Does it work on all games as long as your in full screen mode? I am unfamiliar with the special conditions needed for it to work.

Free-Sync wont work with your GTX 980ti, only G-Sync

And yes, thank you for letting me know. I was already planning on getting an AMD GPU for it,

Pretty sure it's in your monitor or GPU settings

*to enable it, you'd go into AMD's software and depending on the monitor, you may need to go into OSD to enable it.

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Yes all games. I believe it works in windowed mode too but I'm not sure.

Most monitors only support FreeSync over DisplayPort, but some support it over HDMI.

Maybe that has something to do with HDMI throughput limiting the higher refresh rates on higher resolution panels? I imagine it should work via HDMI on all 1080p panels, but I could be wrong.

well I like display port anyway due to the latch so it doesn't move as much. So I will continue to use it.
