Why is $500 now a flagship killer?

I bought a brand freaking new Note 2 in 2012 for $700, and that was as flagship as phones got. When did we go from there to $500 being a "flagship killer"?

I'm going to go sit on my porch and tell those damn kids to keep off my lawn.

Hypnotoad's RAM is dying, his motherboard is acting like the 6-year-old AsRock it is, a couple of SATA ports have just stopped working, but the RGB remains. The RGB always remains. Hypnotoad lives. All glory to the Hypnotoad.

not just that, they also went live on Youtube before posting the Thread, also the target time is 3 eastern (NOON PACIFIC, which is where they are) and the forum thread comes earlier then that, sometimes up to an hour earlier

this one was basically a simultaneous release between the forum and youtube

It's not like he's traveling there for a vacation lol. He's either on a plane, working, or sleeping like 3 hours a night :P it's more tiring than you might think.

I said pretty much the same thing to Linus when he suggested "flagship killer" in the title... then I realized that it kinda is lol. With most flagships running $700-1000 these days...

Still not my ideal phone. Take the HTC M8, add a rear fingerprint reader, add a good camera, and update the internals. Bonus points for waterproofing/18:9/OLED screen.

It has the curved metal back that feels amazing in hand, of the M8, but not much else.

Not a fan of the HTC U11 Plus? I'd say it's one of, if not the best phone of 2017.

Ugh, “flagship killer”

The only thing it kills flagships in is price:performance (and RAM plus UX performance).

The Workhorse (AMD-powered custom desktop)

The Portable Workstation (Apple MacBook Pro 16" 2021)

SoC: Apple M1 Max (8+2 core CPU w/ 32-core GPU) | RAM: 32GB unified LPDDR5 | Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD | OS: macOS Monterey

The Communicator (Apple iPhone 13 Pro)

SoC: Apple A15 Bionic | RAM: 6GB LPDDR4X | Storage: 128GB internal w/ NVMe controller | Display: 6.1" 2532x1170 "Super Retina XDR" OLED with VRR at up to 120Hz | OS: iOS 15.1
