1080 advise needed

stevenh

I'm looking to order a new graphics card this week a GTX 1080.

I'm how ever not sure which one yet.

My options at this point are:

Gigabyte Aourus GeForce GTX 1080 8G (€565)

Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 8G (€569)

KFA Geforce GTX  HOF 1080 8G (€610)

The Disatvandtage of the KFA HOF one is that the store does not give the free destiny 2 game with the card (which is a game i want to so that would mean i would have to buy it, giving the Asus & Gigabyte ones a €50 advantage)

I was also wondering if there is a big difference preformence wise between the different Asus ROG Strix cards, as the 8G, A8G & O8G have huge price differences.

If anyone could help me out that would be great!

The performance should be pretty much identical, but the Strix should have the best cooling

Where are you buying from? Also check for 1070Ti deals. 95% of the performance of the 1080 (which can be compensated with overclocking) and sometimes much cheaper.

I preferd to go for that one haha, it comes with Destiny 2 & Assassin's creed Origins and at this moment is one of the cheapest ones (from the well known brands atleast)

Do you know if there is a big difference between the asus ones preformence wise.

asus by far, great cards and cooling, with an unbeatable customer service (Besides EVGA)

I don't have a specific store, the cheapest 1070ti i could find was 530, so the 1080€ is the same price as i will buy destiny 2 anyway.

The advantage of the 1080 is that it comes with Destiny 2 & Assassin's creed Origins two games i want to get.

So although it's  49€ more expensive, it get's me two games i was going to buy anyway.

Do you know if there is a big difference between the different 1080 models from asus preformence wise.

There's only two models, the Strix and Poseidon. The Poseidon is a hybrid card with watercooling and aircooling support. Pretty much useless if you dont build a custom loop. Different variants of the Strix perform the same as long as you tweak them with software.

Strix for sure. I own one personally, and it's absolutely fantastic; super quiet, powerful, overclocks well (easily over 2ghz), and stays cool under full load (under 70 usually when overclocked).

Plus, it's got the best design of any GPU atm, save the Galax EXOC cards.

Snorlax: i7 5820k @4.5ghz, Asus X99 Pro, 32gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, Samsung 850 evo 500gb, Asus GTX 1080 ROG Strix, Corsair RM850x, NZXT H440, Hue+

Smallsnor: Huawei Matebook X

Canon AE-1 w/ 50mm f/1.8 lens

Pentax KM w/ 55mm f/1.8 SMC lens

Zenit-E w/ 58mm f/2 Helios lens

Panasonic G7 with 14-42mm f/3.5 lens

Polaroid Spectra System

Well they do have three different is there a big difference between them?

They have the

Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 8G (1,733GHz Boost Clock)

Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 A8G  ( 1835 MHz Boost Clock )

Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 OC8G ( 1936 MHz Boost Clock )

The price differences are quite big The A8G is €45 euro more, and the OG is not even an option at 714€
