Awesome, I've had to disable it for now as it's repeatedly trying to download the CES coverage and failing. For now I can live manually downloading though :)

Its technically updated now if you want to pull the files directly and run npm update. But I decided I wanted to work on a nicer way for the script to update so its been delayed for a bit. Will definitively be out today though.

The update script should be working now. Can you try run it again? Also if it doesn't work can you try running it as a admin and as a non admin?

Hopefully it was just me accidentally uploading the wrong file...

Same errors, I think it needs to run as admin, but it then uses C:\Windows\System32 as the root path.

I opened a cmd as admin and did a manual CD to the directory before running it, that seemed to do the trick (or at least, no errors, I haven't tested it's working yet :))

Not sure what's happened, I now have some files in a folder called update, but the original files are untouched. I'll revert and try your update again :)

Weird... Can you try run the Install version in a new folder :/ Hopefully its just something to do with your specific machine as I didnt have the issue on mine. Though if its common then theirs not much I'm going to be able to do to fix it...

Just tried, no luck. I noticed I still get an error during update, although it finishes everything else

(node:6080) [DEP0013] DeprecationWarning: Calling an asynchronous function without callback is deprecated.

I'm running Server 2012 R2, perhaps that's the issue here :)

That error is fine. If that's the only thing your getting then it should be updating correctly. Can you check your settings.json file and see if the version is 3.4.0?

Also would you like to talk on discord instead of the form. Would be alot easier to try and sort this out :)

Worked it out, I had to copy the files from update to the root folder (which included the settings.json), put my path in there and rerun it, now downloading again. I'll log into discord if I can - I'm meant to be working haha :)

Thank you for your help, you're a genius :)

That's fine, though it should migrate the stuff in the update folder into the main folder by itself and then remove the update folder... Hopefully it just works normally for everyone else :) I'm probably going to be pushing out a small update soon anyway to resolve some of these bugs and fix another issue I missed... That was the 3.4.0 Update... However That did and still does have a bunch of issues that were not fixed relating to bulk downloads and MAJOR issues with the update and install scripts, mainly due to them being the first version that I wrote yesterday... So There is actually another update coming quite soon... Will also overhaul the download info to look alot nicer. So you can look forward to that sometime soon...

Just an update for you, I managed to get it working, here is what I did:

Downloaded manual.zip and extracted it

Manually ran npm install

CES downloads failed, settings json mentioned version 3.3.0 rather than 3.4.0 which was odd

Downloaded update.zip

Applied update.zip

CES downloads failed

Manually ran npm install

All good after that :)

It might be something to do with my setup though, I'll try it on a different server (I'm looking to migrate to a newer OS anyway) and catch you on discord :)

Oh nice, I like the new download loader, Better than the loader that we use now. But 3.4.0 run great. I run the update file and i it work, The only problem that I had been that all the video files named with the datum. I remove the "Linus Tech Tips" files in the folder and download it again en now everything works fine. Also, the CES files. And jt999 I use windows server 2016.

Version 3.5.0 (GitHub)

The 3.5.0 Release is out...

This release was pushed out a bit earlier than originally planed due to some issues 3.4.0 had with its update scripts. Hopefully this version should be a lot more stable.

Changelog

v3.5.0

  • Rewrote downloading display to better support multiple videos & sexy loading bar.

v3.4.1

  • Fixed issues with update & install scripts
  • Fixed MultiPage Downloads incorrectly organising videos

Install Guide

If your updating then just download the Update.zip extract it to your install folder and run it. It will automagically update all the needed files and move your settings over.
I suggest double checking that everything is correctly updated in the settings.json though it should move your old settings over.

For people who are doing a fresh install just follow the below guides:

So... This has gotta be the longest time I have spent working on this script straight lol. Pretty sure I hit around 14 hours at least :P.

Anyway please do test the update script and the main script as while I was more rigorous with them when fixing them in 3.5.0 there are always issues...

I figured id do a little thing about some plans I might consider for the script in the future... So do give me some feedback on what you think of these ideas.

I have been considering for a while to give the script a local website interface, mainly for easily changing settings for people who don't know how to, but possibly also as a replacement for plex if you didn't want to use plex.

Another thing I was considering doing is compiling it for Android so that you could download using the script on your phone if you were on the go.

Other than that its just small updates and new features when I think of them :) I'm always open to contributions and recommendations though xD

Anyway hope the new update works well for everyone! Ill be lurking <3
