I prefer Samsung to most other phone companies. Brand loyalty I guess, my first phone is a Galaxy S3, and my TV is a Samsung as well

The G series were notoriously bad because of loose components that caused boot loop but that issue  has been fixed

Depends if you want a bigger battery or something that isn't a fragile fingerprint magnet. If you take good care of your phone and willing to install custom roms, the S7 Edge will clearly outlast the G6.

Why do you say that? The hardware on the G6 is better than that of the S7, SD821 vs SN820.

The SD821 is just an SD820 thats clocked about 10% higher... something that is easily bridged by overclocking. Or do you buy phones for the purpose of benchmarking? The extra 300mAh in the S7 Edge makes a bigger difference considering it uses an OLED display that doesn't have to power an always-on backlight found in the G6's IPS display.

I'm not saying the S7 Edge is hands down better. Its just that for a person like me who really takes advantage of every last bit of hardware, I find more value in the S7 Edge. For the average joe who won't bother with custom software or even properly resetting/managing their device, longevity is of little value when they get baited into buying a new phone every year or so by the illusion of the new Android version being faster than their existing junk-stricken device.

If you are average joe, just get the phone looks better or feels better in the hand. Performance wise they will do what you need without issue. Or perhaps if you had prior experience with both brands, get the one that has the UI/skin that you prefer. Nothing wrong with being average joe. No one can tell you how to use your phone.

The thing is, I can pick up a refurbished S7 edge and a brand new g6 for the same price.

Does the refurb come with warranty and full box of accessories? Else take the G6. If I were the one buying, I would value both phones at the same price, but only given they are both brand new.

It does, yeah

LG G6, I am using it now. I am ex. owner of S8+ I am consider Samsung fans as I buy a lot Samsung phone. Haha!

This LG G6 is just my second LG phone after the LG G4.

Two reason I switch from S8+ to G6

  • Wide angle camera
  • Quad DAC

After test the Quad DAC, OMG! the 1st mobile I own that can fire up my Sennheiser HD518 50 Ω headset. Listen using G6 v/s S8+ is like heaven and hell.

Beside this, the wide angle camera just simply awesome where all others manufacture shall consider wide angle camera as second camera instead of those zoom lens.

I am aiming V30 now, I think I very hard go back Samsung already especially Samsung sound quality is very very bad.
