Lol bars of soap are way cheaper and you can't really get something that kills bacteria full of bacteria. AKA you can't contaminate soap

What do you mean liquid is cleaner?? You are paying for mostly water and usually you use a body scrubber which is incredibly dirty and filled with bacteria. If your soap is chunky when you use it you are doing something wrong.

Honestly i had the same question. They feel drying, can't lather up as well, and they just slip all over the fucking place. Really hate bar soap.

Bar soaps suck, I only use them if I'm at a hotel and was stupid and forgot to pack body wash/shampoo for hand soap, they still suck.

I was raised on bar soap actually. I prefer it to "gels" and similar things. I'm also pretty weird so...

Honestly though I grew up with bar soap and the first time I tried liquid soap it blew my mind because it didn't leave any kind of residue on my body, since that day I cringe every time I get done showering when I'm forced to use bar soap.

If you are feeling dry you are either not rinsing it off enough or are buying too cheap of soap. Irish spring is basically dove but smells manly

In terms of cleaning power? No. Soap is soap, once it's been "lathered". You can find scented, unscented, anti-bacterial, moisturizing, etc, in both liquid and bar form.

 

Liquid is more luxurious and convenient. Bar soap is more dense, and therefore more "spatially" efficient (as well as more efficient to transport), and generally will also last a lot longer than most liquid soap.

 

Plus, bar soap (especially if you get cheap shit like Irish Springs (fuck that soap sucks)), is cheap as fuck. So people with low income can buy soap by the truckload, when they can't afford to spring for the more expensive liquid soap.

"Shower gel" might also be called "Body Wash". It's basically liquid soap specifically for cleaning your body in the shower. You use a sponge, cloth, or "Loofah" (one of those big puffy lacy things, see spoiler) to lather the Body Wash on, and then you use the cloth, etc, to clean yourself.

 

In North America, Body Wash is pretty much the "status quo" at this point. Most people tend to use body wash. Loofah's are more marketed towards women, but are used by both men and women.

Trust me, I have dry skin, and using Irish Springs instantly kills my skin (whether my hands or body), whereas Dove is like washing with clouds filled with love and happiness.

 

Though personally I use Body Wash for the shower (Old Spice Hydro Wash is my first choice - great for dry skin). For washing my hands, I'll use whatever is available, Dove (or other high quality bar soap), or liquid soap.
