NVIDIA skipping Volta for gamers? Ampere might be next!

I want my Einstein architecture already. maybe with relativity cores?

As awesome as relativity is, his photoelectric effect/particle theory of light is far more applicable to computer hardware than Relativity.

If I were an engineer working in semiconductors, I'd personally be reserving the Einstein label for an appropriately radical leap.

Which would be a disaster considering Einstein wasn't that much involved with this particular part of physics and even said it was wrong at some point...

Einstein did pretty much give birth to it though with his explanation of the photoelectric effect, that light comes in quanta.

Aaaaaaaaaaand I'm still waiting for custom RX Vega 56.

Which probably won't even happen

Raja abandoning ship seems to have really pulled the wind out of Vega's sails, hopefully AMD can get things back on course soon but probably hoping for a bit too much .

So? He fought with Niels Bohr for quite a while because he didn't believe the theory was exact as is, yielding epistemological arguments, which shows that whatever part he had in it, he wasn't an advocate of the theory.

If I understand correctly, he was also a big pro-realist, and early on there wasn't the distinction that one of either realism or locality may still be true.

As I understand it, even a lot of people who were well versed in the field felt that Quantum Theory was implying that there was no reality *or* locality, and not simply a lack of one or the other.

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Nothing to do with Raja, it's some kind of issue with AIB partners as far as I know.

No one wants those reference coolers, even though the VRM section on Vega is really good.

its because the HBM sticks up difrent amounts on the dies they get

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

From what i remember, since the probabilistic idea behind quantum physics is rather abstract and that there is a strong dissonance between the theory and reality, lots of people were trying to disprove the theory. There has been a strong philosophical debate around it which ended up with the acceptance that physics aren't true, including quantum physics, but they are instead models capable of prediction.

That gap between our knowledge and what it applies to isn't something necessarily easy to grab, hence why there was a heated debate about it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm bothered by thosetoo .I also don't see the continuity in dead people in Nvidias lineup

Fermi was a nuclear scientist and Pascal was a mathematician. Couldn't they have named them all based on electricity related scientists

There aren't as many measurements named after pepole as you think

This is incredibly stupid. It doesn't matter what field of science or math they focused on. It's basically a way of honoring their work. Besides, all those fields ARE related to computing. Processors are basically the culmination of all branches of physics, engineering, and math.

I'm ok with a Freddie Mercury card as long as it doesn't die too soon.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

He's hardly going to say "guys don't buy a 1080Ti or any of our other stuff because we will have new cards in a few months", is he?

Thing is... he's completely right. The only AMD cards that outright beat anything Pascal in gaming is the 580 over the 1060 and 570 over the 1050 TI.

Vega 56? Trades blows with 1070 in many cases, and roundly beaten by 1070 TI across the board.

Vega 64? Beaten by 1080 in most cases. Does not even come close to the 1080 TI except in heavily optimized games using Vulkan natively, rather than being a wrapper (Wolfenstein, Doom).

Vega 64 LC? Lol.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

Well you can only say this because the Vega 56 exists :)

Not that it changes anything to do with Vega 56 just that you wouldn't have that option without the existence of this product.
