Difference in RPM with HDD write/read speeds?

I am currently looking at parts for my PC I wish to build, and I came across a 10025 RPM HDD. This sparks a question for me, in what case would someone need a HDD of that speed? And are there any benefits that justify the $300 cost for a 450 Gb 10025 RPM HDD?

That's an SAS enterprise drive. You couldn't use that w/o a proper controller.

Ah, Okay I did not realise this. But I must say, that is one fast drive....

Yeah I used to have a TON, but this was an older version of SAS before SSDs came out. Jumped on SSDs right away.
