Honestly though Dave has 5 times less as many subs and he averages about half of LTT's views. Not saying the number of subs has any real correlation or is linear but I don't think cheesy dumb thumbnails and annoying titles really are necessary compared to quality content and a happier consumer for the long run. What do I know though Youtube is mostly kids and I guess Linus needs to make money.

Just keeping this here as a Honestly though Dave has 5 times less as many subs and he averages about half of LTT's views. Not saying the number of subs has any real correlation or is linear but I don't think cheesy dumb thumbnails and annoying titles really are necessary compared to quality content and a happier consumer for the long run. What do I know though Youtube is mostly kids and I guess Linus needs to make money. 

The only one that is remotely clickbait is "The Perfect Gaming Laptop!" because of its title. Just because Linus hold a product in his hands and show a reaction that is relative to the content of the show and the name of the title doesn't mean it's clickbait, just good advertising.

 

There's a big difference between good advertising and clickbait. There's nothing wrong with using attractive colors or faces to gain views with a thumbnail, that's basic marketing, but there is an issue with using an image that is not relative to the content at all.

English is what we use here.

 

I could see how it could be clickbait, but it's really not. It is a question that is relative to the topic and an answer, as well as a statement confirming that the product in the video is actually what they talk about.

 

Clickbait in its originality is to mislead a user in order to get more traffic to certain content. They are in no way misleading their content. 

 

If you want to get rid of "clickbait" then go make a platform where all the videos are listed with no thumbnails and have generic and specific titles. For example:

- Full HD IPS Laptop that costs $160

- iPhone 8 and iPhone 8+ Review

- The 3DFX VooDoo II SLI Setup

and so on...

the joke is in late februrary i accidentally spilt water on it while it was running, and I shitposted in amd discord saying 'i waterboarded my intel system in preparation for ryzen' 

also only 2 usb ports work, and the northbridge is slowly dying, and ram issues plague me.

It's not clickbait unless it lies about the content or is misleading to the audience, which is generally not the case with LTT videos. Genuinely clickbait titles may use the same sort of format as LTT's titles because those formats are more likely to get the viewer's attention, but the problem is the lie, not the way it's presented. If that same title had been on a video where all they did was connect a 160$ laptop to an ips monitor, then sure, it would have been misleading and clickbait - but since they did deliver on what the title promised I don't see the problem.

"Professional" in this context is an empty word. They do this for a living, hence it's their profession - it's professional by definition. As for it being "childish", I don't see an inherent problem with that; as long as they behave fairly and don't spread misinformation, the style of their videos is their own choice to make. Maybe they will attract a younger audience, so what? Kids and teens could definitely benefit from learning a bit more about the technology they use every day. Just because you have "grown out" of it doesn't mean it doesn't have value. LTT has been around for 9 years now as a separate entity from NCIX, people inevitably change in such a long time, especially kids, and their taste evolves with them. Personally I still enjoy many of their videos even though I may not find the jokes as funny, or the ideas as exciting as I used to. The ones I think I'll find boring, I simply don't watch. I am probably no longer part of their target audience, but I don't blame them for it, nor do I demand a change on their part. It's normal to change, it's not reasonable to expect everyone else to change with you.

I mean I'm dyslexic. Arguing the attacker because of the grammar, spelling, or punctuating is daft because it doesn't mean anything. 

You can argue and not write it/phrase it well. 

Some days, I can't write well no matter how hard I try, but I usually just take longer than most.

At this point it honestly sounds more like you're weirdly upset that 'YouTube', overall, has a statistically young audience.  Cause that's all it is.  YouTube's audience skews young and if you can't relate to that then you're the problem.

Honestly though Dave has 5 times less as many subs and he averages about half of LTT's views. Not saying the number of subs has any real correlation or is linear but I don't think cheesy dumb thumbnails and annoying titles really are necessary compared to quality content and a happier consumer for the long run. What do I know though Youtube is mostly kids and I guess Linus needs to make money. 

So, the thumbs are annoying, yes. But the YouTube algorithm really does prioritize shit like that.


As for the titles?

 

Well, both LTT and the other guys iPhone titles are perfectly acceptable. It has the name of the product in the title, and what type of video (review, first impressions).

 

As for the laptop videos? The titles are fucking shit on both. Even your "Dave2D" or whoever that guy is. THAT is clickbait (on both). It makes a claim, but doesn't tell you what device is even being reviewed. I fucking hate that. I actually despise videos where they don't put the product name/model in the video title.
