when will cortana for android be available in my country?

Ashley MLP Fangirl

i'm guessing this goes in the Windows section.

something really frustrates me. i've been in the Windows insider program or a bit now and i really want to try the new features where you can link your phone to your pc. only really annoying thing is, Google Play says that the app is "not available in my region". this is just stupid, because cortana works fine on my pc if i set the language and search region to US...

so yeah, when will i be able to download the app...?

You always could just install an American firmware on your device if available.

Don't have to use an American one specifically just use one that is supported by Cortana.

Why would you want to cortana in the first place? But anyway you can always just sit it out with the google assistant, or just grab an apk (https://cortana.en.uptodown.com/android)

well, i want it for the integration with Windows. you get features similar to Handoff and continuity (i believe that's what it's called) on the Apple side.

Fair enough...I must admit I didn't think of that....if the app checks for region and language first it might not work still. The only thing you could try then is too Google it and then perhaps contact Microsoft and see what they say.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I am just so surprised you can't change your region on Android. Granted I had an Android phone before but never looked into, but on my Windows 10 Mobile phone, I can, identically as you do in Windows 10. The store and apps adapts after a restart of these apps. I am in Canada and I have my phone set to US.

well Windows mobile is dead, or so i've heard. but yeah, you can't change it as far as i'm aware. not without flashing different firmware on it, or rooting it. and doing that voids the warranty. so yeah, not an option for me.

I'd suggest trying out if the app has region checking or not. It's probably available somewhere to download.
