Apple reduces face recognition security accuracy to increase production - Various security branches within O/S?

... I do find it interesting that Apple to reduce accuracy of its facial recognition security to ensure production can increase.  I thought consistency and 'perfection' of product was paramount to ensuring the Apple experience.

Does this mean reduced accuracy leading to inconsistency in security hardware/software integration [read: multiple branches of security software versions in the o/s to compensate]?  Does this mean that security is now "flexible" within the o/s - capable of different versions within the same o/s version?  Can this now be a backdoor to a security loophole for hacking?

Does it really matter that much? I personally have never had a single unlock restriction on my phone ever... like those passwords and what not.

Typical Apple: they feel like they must do something new even if the details are not yet ironed out: first with the race to being the thinnest and the bendgate and now with the race to remove bezels before they had a proper way to easily unlock.

For a lot of people yes. I am out and about a lot and wouldnt want anyone going through my phone if I somehow lost my phone. Your entire life is on one device.

Part suppliers.  When you have to ship tens of millions of units for a flagship phone every quarter, you put demands on factories that other companies don't.  One of the dirty secrets for Samsung is that its flagship phones don't sell nearly as well as Apple's: yes, it gives itself the best parts, but it also only has to make, say, 20 million flagship phones where Apple might have to make 30 or 40 million.

not quite

production problems due to avalability of parts has nothing to do with working technologies.

 

its like when ram was suddently super expensive because no one had the capabilities to make the chips. due to lack of materials.

Apple has one goal, to ship and sell iPhones. 

 

They see the 8 is not doing to hot and figure everyone is going to want the X......but at the same time they see how low the yield numbers are for iPhones that meet QC.......

 

The investors demand units being moved so the only way they can do that is to lower the QC standards and fix any security issues in software later.

yes, but you'd think apple would plan ahead for this kind of stuff, and perhaps delay the shipping of their product to meet demand.

Ok well congrats on not using your phone much? Sorry, you are right, people dont need security on their device that contains so much personal information.

They do.  That's part of why the iPhone X isn't shipping until early November.  But they can't control absolutely everything, and there's not much point to shipping a flagship phone in early 2018 and missing an entire quarter just to say you have more in stock.

Uh... I don't get why you'd be offensive now, just because different consumers looks for different offerings at the market it doesn't make one right or wrong, if you feel Apple is not securing your personal information the way you wish it to be secured, simply don't buy an Apple?
